MSNBC host apologizes after saying he's 'uncomfortable' calling fallen soldiers heroes
Published May 28, 2012 FoxNews.com The MSNBC host, who on the eve of Memorial Day said it makes him “uncomfortable” to describe fallen soldiers as heroes, apologized Monday after outcry from a top veterans group. "On Sunday, in discussing the uses of the word "hero" to describe those members of the armed forces who have given their lives, I don't think I lived up to the standards of rigor, respect and empathy for those affected by the issues we discuss that I've set for myself," Chris Hayes, host of "Up With Chris Hayes," said in a statement. "I am deeply sorry for that." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christo...8journalist%29 Christopher L. "Chris" Hayes (born 1979)[1] is an American broadcaster, journalist and liberal political commentator. Hayes is married to Kate A. Shaw, Associate Counsel for President Barack Obama The comment was made while kicking off a panel discussion on his show and he noted, it's "very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words 'heroes.'" Hayes tried to explain why that makes him uneasy: "I feel ... uncomfortable about the word hero because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war." Veterans of Foreign Wars, in addition to a throng of conservative bloggers and groups, slammed Hayes for being so conflicted about the term. "Chris Hayes' recent remarks on MSNBC regarding our fallen service members are reprehensible and disgusting," VFW National Commander Richard DeNoyer said in a statement to FoxNews.com. "His words reflect his obvious disregard for the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have paid the ultimate price while defending our nation. His insipid statement is particularly callous because it comes at a time when our entire nation pauses to reflect and honor the memory of our nations' fallen heroes." On the show, Hayes couched his remarks and acknowledged his concerns might not be justified. "I don't want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that's fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism -- of you know, hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic," he said. "But maybe I'm wrong about that." In his statement, he went on to say, "In seeking to discuss the civilian-military divide and the social distance between those who fight and those who don't, I ended up reinforcing it, conforming to a stereotype of a removed pundit whose views are not anchored in the very real and very wrenching experience of this long decade of war. And for that I am truly sorry." Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/05 ... z1wFl4SbcD

No breach unless the lawyers firm owns the particular venue that the turd is paid by and receives business or contracts from the government that the wife could directly or indirectly influence.

To have someone working in an arena where he could have influence over the content of news reporting in order to sway opinion while he is so closely connected to the president is unehtical.

Dead or Alive, they are all heroes in my books. That includes all of you on TFF who have served our country. I think people like "THAT CESSPOOL ABOVE" and there are a lot of em' deserve to have their Butt's Stomped ! Maybe they should send his sorry A$$ over to the middle east and let him see some of the carnage and some of our soldiers fighting and dying over there then he may change his tune about heroes!
He obviously has no comprehension as to what a Hero is. Anyone who goes and serves and puts themselves in harms way is a hero to me. True, there are the one's who go above and beyond and earn medals for heroic deeds but to me everyone who risks their lives and limbs for us is a hero. After all it is the whole team not just one who risk's it all for us. What an A$$ !!! Especially to make that comment on the eve of Memorial Day. Totally Despicable IMO, Shame On You Chris Hayes !!! That's all I got to say about this. Makes me sick. ![]()

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hero
If a soldier does not fit that definition (1. b, c and d), then nothing or nobody does. It does not matter to me what his candy @zz thinks about warfare! It does not take away the FACT that anyone putting themselves in harms way for another is a HERO. The definition of the most noble of heros can be found not in Websters book, but in the THE book........John 15:13.
