Default These Dawgs mush on water

Congratulations to my beloved UW Huskies.

Racing has concluded at the 2012 IRA National Championships.
5 Gold Medals were on the line, and the storied Jim 'Ten Eyck Award.
The Dawgs took all the Gold, the Ten Eyck Award, and another National championship. Woof!

That's 2 in a row, 15 over all, and an unprecidented 6 (SIX) Ten Eycks in a row. The National Championship is awarded to the top Varsity 8 boat (two years ago it was Cal), but the Ten Eyck Award is given to the top team (based on point accrual). So even tho Cal took one from the Huskies, they lost in the real battle.

The Huskies are the only team in the Nation to win 5 Ten Eycks in a row. Now it's 6. Not only that, but the Dawgs shattered the course record in their repeat. 3 days of racing the Nations finest, and no losses recorded.

Put that in yer pipe Ivy Leaguers.

For the record:
History: 1st Team Ever To Sweep All Five IRA Events
History: 6th Consecutive Ten Eyck
History: 5 Course Records
(Unofficial)

The turkey is going in the smoker in a few hours, and there's cold beer awaiting.

This is a great day!

I didn't think row boats were a sport.

Big time around here.

The Huskies kicked Hitlers azz at the Berlin Olympics in 1936.

There's far too much history to go into here, but yes, we take it very seriously. Crew is one of the most physically/mentally demanding team sports in the world.

Row boats.

If it doesn't involve a ball, bat, stick, killing or punching some on in the face or body it is not a sport it is a skills challenge.

The sticks are called 'oars'. Racing shells are very pointy so they also have a 'bow ball'. Keeps people from being stabbed should the occasion arise.

Is that better?
