I cant speak for the Rugers, no experience with them, but the Remington is one fine shoooter. At least the Enhanced model that I have is. I cant speak for the base model. The Remingtons are also fair priced.

Was looking at our new spiffy gun store ( too nice to be called gun shop) yesterday and spent a lot of time looking at their wide selection of 1911's Almost every one was way over the $749.95 MSRP of the Ruger SR 1911's. As I have been wanting the Ruger but have been told that the Rem's some of the Sig's and Turas cost less and are better choices. The prices on all of those was at least $100.00 more and even the less expensive Phi inports or equal money than the Ruger prices. Am I missing something, has there been a major price increase across the board or what? I hope that Jim, Dan, and the others a lot smarter than I am will comment on this .

Sounds like your in a high dollar gun shop. I would shop around. When I was selling the STI spartans, I was getting 635.00 shipped. The remington R-1 should be around 599.00. The citadel should be right around the 500 dollar range. Rock islands can be had for 400.00

Ya, I am glad you got me to look at the STI. I was impressed with how Bobitis was treated with the response from Taurus about the damage on his pistol so I feel like they are reputable. As for the STI, that is a fine pistol IMO. I know I will end up with both.

Jim, the hardcore blued steel guys call it sissy stainless. I prefer a blued look on the outside and stainless internals.

The 2 1911s I have are both stainless. The sig has an XO finish that I totally hate. I got the gun used and it already had the scratches from the slide stop not being put back in correctly. It also seems to scratch easily but they are liek scratches you can make with your fingernail then wipe off. the gun itself functions great but I would love to have this gun coated black someday. I dont know what the cose would be as I know I couldnt do it myself and being out of work for 15 months doesnt make it seem like its going to happen any time soon. The ruger sr1911 has a stainless finish that I can live with because I bought it new.

I've got a few Colt's and they shoot great and I have a friend that has a Kimber and a Rock Island Armory and they both shoot anything you put in them and accurately. So I say get what ever feels right in your hand and "YOU" want.
