Jack, I don't have a "tuffy" but I bought one of their matched pairs (.22 rifle / 410 shotgun) for my grandson a few years ago. It has been a good little weapon that shoots well and is easy to handle. It is a well made little gun.

I was just going to add what Deacon Man did, Taurus makes Rossi now. They seem OK. the rear sight blade breaks easy and Ive only had one in that would not go boom consistently but that was a Rossi Wizard but honeslty they are all the same. Removing some material on the hammer stop face was the cure on that.

I wouldn't hesitate buying one, even given the recent
Taurus 608 problems I've had.
The Tuffy is .410 with thumbhole stock only if
my feeble memory still serves me.
I don't know how you could screw up a single-shot
break over breach style rifle/shotgun/pistol other than
somewhere in the trigger/hammer.
After all these decades, and only recently having
any [new]gun problems, and them with Taurus,
Ruger, and S&W, I guess it's a toss-up of who's
quality to trust with your wallet.
Even one of my Contender barrels doesn't open/close
very smoothly.
For the price of these single-shot Rossi's I don't see any problem,
and the ones I have actually held/used seem to be made well.
I have entertained one in .223 and .44 but haven't purchased one
because it would be a duplicate of something I have, but I still want them.
Other things like Berry's plated and W231 and primers always seem to
take priority over the next $200 I have for this area.......
with the exception of MamaOzo wanting a new Smith or sumpin'.

Honestly....in my head.....I am just about
'gun-shy' of buying any new guns....
from any manufacturer......not that I need any.
There are just so many I like !
And I would just simply focus on 'used' ones
that I know are tried-and-true......but the used ones
all seem to be priced about as much as a new one.
I really am baffled with these days and times.
The more I deal with humans, the more I love my cat !!!
