Default Sows with cubs

Sows and their cubs are ruining by Spring Bear. Last year, we got 8 nice (AK blk bear) outta my stand. This season I haver two sows with a bunch of cubs eating me outta house and home. Have 3 adult boars coming in but inconsistent due to lack of bait; cubs eating it all. These sows and their cubs are camped out at my bait barrel 24/7 and I ain't shooting them to get rid of them; so this is what I have to put up with. Quite common for bear to climb up stand tree, last week one tried getting into stand with my boy and this girl taking picts; it was a foot under the stand floor wanting to come up for a visit. The boy had 44 out but was able to yell bear down rather than shoot past bears head.

So when my daughter and I walked in tonight, we spooked one sow and her cubs and one of the cubs ran up my stand tree. I got up ladder and tried knocking him out with a big stick, but couldn't and he was getting all spastic chattering and chewing on tree in frustration, so we just reset game cam and went home. I figure once his momma comes back, he'll be back down, eating all my bait all over again.

Got any bear spray? It's supposed to work in these situations. Don't want no bears in my stand either. Can you set up another bait stand in a different location?

Dang....gotts run them out of your tree stand tree before you can hunt'em!
Awesome pic, but darn, dont make for a good hunt.
One would think that human scent would keep them away from your stand?

Actually, bear get use to the smells and if they have been smelling humans around the stand, it don't seem to bother them. Many of our bear have never seen people, good and bad; bad cause they think food which makes blk bear almost as dangerous as grizz.

This is first year I have had problems with a couple sows with cubs eating all my bait, not leaving any for the bigger males. Our blk bear are small, get up to about 300-350 lbs, most adults around 250. I think the bigger boars are feeding on new grass too.

My stand is like 5-7 minutes from my house on a good 4 wheeler trail. makes it nice to bait & hunt. I have a new stand in the works, 5 miles behind house at base of mnts, but trail is so rough, 45 minute beat ya to death ride. Nice moose lick and all kinds of bear, both blk & grizz. Nx spring, we can shoot grizz that come into our blk bear bait station; F&G bends over backwards trying to make the grizz luvers happy when they should just tell them to shut up, we need predator control before the moose are extinct.
All the lower 48 city people sending money to the animal luver groups, they have power with the politicals ($$$$$$).

I started bear hunting cause we were getting bear in our garbage cans, fire barrel, up on porch; sooner or later they figure out theres better things to eat inside than out and they have no problem knocking a door off it's hinges or coming through a window, so. Well, I'm getting to think I need about 3 different stands 4-5 miles apart then I can rotate use from year to year. Will post some more picts when I get some loaded up.

How about rigging a flash-bang grenade or a bear spray grenade to the opening of the bait barrel, or anywhere else you want to deter them? One snoot full of flash-bang should scare them away and send them looking elsewhere..

I'll probably just wait until nx year, the bugs have gotten bad back in the woods and it was 90 today here in Alaska. Here is the culprits that have eating all my bait.
