speed loaders?

What do you guy think about speed loaders for a revolver?I got this new judge and its hard to get used to since ive always used semi auto.I want to reload as fast as I can.

Hey Ryan, after using them, for me...it's hard to go back.
I've got a few .357 MAGS and use the HKS speed loaders. Also, I got the nylon speedloader holders that slip on a gun belt or reg. belt. Now when I go to shoot, I have the speedloaders ready and keep'em loaded in the pouch.

Yes sir it does. For the 44 you actually NEED the longest barrel you can get.

Thus the 357 is quicker on the draw.

I have a couple for my 4 inch S&W 629. You Do need to practice repeatedly with them.
I also carry some belt loop singles for partial "on-the-go" reloads that I learned from a local sheriff many years ago.
That's where during a break in the action you push the cylinder open, angle the gun slightly, push the extractor up about 1/3 of the way and let it go back. The empties should stay out and the loaded rounds drop back into the cylinder. Pull the empties (usually only 2 or 3) and replace from the loops. Takes about 6-10 seconds once you've practiced it enough. You get so it's natural and do it with out looking at the gun. Keeping your eyes on the target. That way you're never empty.
If you use up all the loaded rounds in the gun then the speed loader is faster.

Ryan, they are a must with any double action revolver.

Zane, that is not the first time you hve posted a pic of that sssaaweeet revolver. I hope you post it a hundred more times. That is one of the finest revolvers that I have seen on this forum so far. I would like to see if someone on TFF has one that's as primo as yours. How many rounds have you fired through it?

I bought some .38 Special Speed loaders and they were about $9.00. They can cost more depending on the robber your buying them from.

I have a couple in the console of my pickup, for the Ruger SP101, I carry a lot.
Mostly around the house, I just drop a couple Bianchi Speed-strips, loaded with .357's in my shirt pocket. They are flat & easy to carry. And, just about as quick, once you get use to them, as an H&K speed-loader.
And, I always have 2 Speed-strips in my jacket pocket when I'm out & about.
They're quick for tactical partial loads, also.

Back when I was in the US I used HKS speedloaders. (still have them, just don't have any S & W K-frame to use them with).
Proficiency takes practice. I got so I could reload in about 5-10 seconds on the range and I learned how to refill the speedloader while running. It takes a little practice but it does work nicely.

I used HKS for a long time but safariland comp II or comp III's are so much better I will never buy HKS again, they're that good!

don't know if they're makin' them for the judge, kinda doubt it but for most 38/.357's out there will take 'em.

speedstrips are also an excellent option and much easier to carry. A tad slower but you can get speedstrips for .410 and .45 colt no problem and they're super cheap.



with the comp III's in my GP-100, I was able to achieve 2.5 second reloads! the goal will be to watch some more Jerry Miculek to speed up my reloading speed, hahaha.

I periodically sit on the couch in the evening and practice with my dummunition in the gp-100, gettin' better....

the HKS's have been thrown in my pistol bag for extra ammo when on the go so they still serve a purpose amongst my comp III's.
