Most here at TFF know I am a revolver fanatic......
but I have many semi-autos......love 'em too.
Since I bought my first Ruger Mark decades ago
until now with these two, I can't remember any time
that I have had a problem....once....of any kind.....
if I used a Ruger factory mag !!!!
All ammo, which has been various, never seemed to matter.
I can't say that, or even anything remotely close to that,
about my Sig, Browning, ATI, Kimber, Colt, Para, etc........
with only one exception......Bersa Thunder !

Ozo, I too love the revolvers but as the eyes age the open sights are becoming a problem so the addition of scopes and red dots to these MK III's have increased the fun of shooting for me. Josh helped me solve a problem with the Burris Fastfire and now it is a real pleasure to shoot. Both of these have been problem free. The 5.5 has a very tight barrel to frame fit and does require a hammer blow to free them. The Hunter just takes a bump. Both can shoot far more accurately than I can.

NICE one's and hope to get my MK III Hunter posted on here soon.
It is the first one I've owned and I JUST HAD to take it down to make sure it was
cleaned and oiled right. I was lacking a manual and this borrowed PC I'm on is limited, so.... (3), yeah, three DANG nights getting the pistol back together!

Yea Dale, they can be trying at times and with the MK III you have to fool with the mag in - mag out nonsense. Then there is the Oh! I forgot to pull the trigger, ha. Wait till you take it down farther and fight with the safety and it's little plunger ball ( watch out or you can lose that sucker). Some times you just wish you had a third hand. But eventually it becomes second hand and easier. Keep a BFH handy

But they are a fine shooting little pistol and I think they are worth the hassle. It is not necessary to remove the barrel from the frame every time you want to give it a little clean up.

Yes sir Todd, I was reading a manual I downloaded and what it was saying to do...just wasnt working for me. After I'd gotten it back in, I was trying to think back as to what I'd done differntly, and after so many trys, I think the mag was in!
But I did get a pic yesterday and sorry about the size of the pic, I havent downloaded a cropping program, yet.
(i hope to get the box and original, all that came with it this weekend)
I got it on the bench yesterday and got the sights set dead on 1" high @ 25yds for starters.

That is sweet. Nice weather this weekend so hope you can get it out and put some rounds down range. No shooting for me yet as my right hand is still all bandaged up from the carpal tunnel release. Left hand typing is for the birds, ha.

Here is a simple and quick Photo Editor that make resizing photos easy. Nothing to down load. Just make sure where you are saving it as it will put it back into what ever folder that happened to be open. So be sure you have the folder you want it in open when you click save.

todd I have other pistols but this one I truely enjoy when she's out at the range. If there's one gun in my lifetime I'll wear out it'll be this one. It's a Mark II but it has to be 15-20 years old. I'd like to get a newer one but I ask myself why?

I love that B-square mount. I had a long barrel (10") MKII that was killer as well.

Someone else asked me about the mount but I think he said they don't make it any more. I didn't want to have the pistol drilled and tapped so this was what I chose to do. I see all these stainless Rugers that I like but I'll never shoot as good as I do with this one so I why spend the money. The only other thing that was done was a trigger job which all Rugers need.

Rugerman that is a nice looking set up. Love the mount. I hate the red dot I have mounted on my MKIII Someday I would love to change it out for a holographic sight.

I went and got a Red Dot to put on my MK III Hunter and what a difference
it made for my lack of vision!
I was looking and was needing something to put on it and for the price, figured I'd try this one out. Works great and where my garden is, there is some light that shins out on it at night. Well with the red dot, I've "wacked" two "critters" just tonight that been into the corn, what there is of it.

And the pistol needs a good cleaning as well. Shot it alot this past day and was going to give it a good cleaning but the "small furry critters" thought it was a good night to get into the corn patch! Bad night for them...

I used to have a really nice Mark II with a red dot on it, but unfortunately it fell out of the boat while trolling for king mackeral off the carolina coast.
