Default What do you guys think?

What do you guys think of the value of my high standard "supermatic" with 2 barrel weights. The serial number is 387863. I am kicking around selling it and wondering what to ask. Great 22 but I seldom shoot 22s.

Sorry, but I'm not a collector. What is the purpose of the weights?

Post Re: What do you guys think?

Hi Dan
I am sure you know what the book says but I type it for others.
It looks to be in the 90/95% bracket so it should be worth around $500 then you add in $30 for each weight then $25 for the filler strip (if you have it).If you had the other barrel you could add $250 more.
If I had it in the shop I would put the price at $600 and be willing to bargain a few bucks.
That is if it only had the 6 3/4 barrel but if it also had the 4 1/2 barrel then it would be $850 with some room to play.
It seems like every one wants to haggle price now a days. especially on used guns so I will go a little high (not much) so I end up getting what I want.
This is assuming that it is the 1st model is there a S-100 or S-101 on the right side of the slide? and from the pics. it does not look like it has the tapered barrel they made a few different series of the supermatic. And the price would depend on what one yours is.But with that ser.# i am sure it is the 1st model. So these prices are good.
Mike

The weights are for balance they help control the recoil. So you are set for the next shot.

The weights if HiStandard weights are in them selves worth a bit. I would say t should sell in the $550 to maybe as much as $800 range if HiStandard weights. also if the weights came with the gun helps getting more.

Thanks guys, I know what the book says but I really think the book is way off on guns like this. I really have always liked high standards and this one is built like a tank. My thoughts were maybe I could get around 550 or so. It would be nice to get more but I am realistic. I may try to put it on an auction site and test the waters. I do appreciate everyones input and I am sorry the pics werent a little better.

I would keep it Dan
It may be one of the few rewards you end up with
from all the aggravation of the gun store.....
I would bet that you won't ever see/have another one....
and if/when SHTF a .22 will be great to have to trade for food.......
