Default Reciever value

Folks I am considering selling a Remington 510 reciever to a person who needs it. What's it worth? Thank you.

Well, the whole gun runs around $100+, so maybe $25 for the receiver, $50 for the barrelled action.

Here in California you would just throw it away because it costs $35 to legally transfer it.

Here you can get FFL fees down to 20 bucks but the whole rifle will go for 75-100 bucks in a pawn shop, whereas a new stock would be close to 100 and a bolt over 50 making building one from a stripped receiver cost prohibitive.

As previously mentioned Remington 500 series rifles do not bring particularly big bucks. Most do not bring the money of the comparable Winchester model that they competed against when in production.

Bolts and magazines (if other than a single shot) often get lost. Barrels go bad from inside rust accumulation.

If someone has enough parts to build a rifle, except for the a receiver; then, IMO, a serviceable one should be worth about 25% to 40% of the value of the assembled rifle.

Those 500 series .22's (510, 511, 512 and 513) were as good as any beginner .22's ever made and (IMHO) better than the equivalent Winchesters. But they are not high ticket items today, though still perfect for their original intended use, as beginner plinking rifles that are accurate, safe, and reliable. I see them at the shows for $100-150, with an occasional very nice one having an asking price up to $200.
