Take the new AR out for some fun, it was not fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First 10 rounds flawless, after that bolt would jam 3/4's closed. Did this several times before I said Fudge it. Problem is I put a new Nickel Boron Carrier in it. After a process or elimination I believe its a headspace issue. Brand new Colt 6720, FailZero Nickel Boron Carrier. Bolt cycles fine racking in & out ammo without pulling the trigger. Colt is 556, ammo is PMC 223 & 556. Bolt fires one round, ejects the case & jams 3/4's closed on inserting the next round. No visible wear or stress on the spent round. Any Ideas?????????????????

have you changed mags? is the feed ramp smooth and shinny..(in other words has it been polished to reduce drag and to align it to the bore)..others will be along shortly who know a whole lot more than me!

Most feeding problems in an AR come from a faulty magazine. Try a different one and see what happens.
Then if the feeding issues continue, take a look at your feed ramps into the chamber to make sure there are no burrs. Also, if you are using cheap commie steel cased ammo, throw all of it in the trash and try some real brass cased ammo. The cheap stuff will gum up your machine on the chop-chop! ![]() ETA: I see you're using PMC Ammo, so that's good. It could be a break-in issue. Did you clean the gun good after you got it and lube everything well prior to you range trip?

Don't think its you carrier.
I have found out that some AR's are very touchy about the rounds you shoot through them. I would start by trying .556 ammo. .223 and .556x45 difer mainly in the presher they creat. Which is the main couse of most AR feeding ishues.

ka64, congrats on your new firearm! I'm sure you will work it out and love your AR. Shouldn't have any problems with the Magpul, they are great mags!

Think I figured it out gents.
I also installed an oversize Mag release, went to my local range and re adjusted the mag release before I arrived. 160 rounds in 20 minutes, not one jam. We'll see, Thanks for the advice . |
