There is going to be some complaints to NASCAR about this. However, the track operator controls access, etc, including storm warnings and clearing of the stands during bad weather. NASCAR only controls the race itself (drivers, cars, etc).

Right on. The track gave announcements and many of the fans had scanners. The were talking about the approaching storm and lightning on the scanner. It is just a bad situation. Up here it could be raining all around the track and not at all at the track. I live 15 miles from Pocono and my wife said it rained most of afternoon at home while the race was running. She thought it would be canceled for the day and everyone would be home by 4 or so.

NASCAR and the track can only do so much. You can get people out of stands but cannot control what they do. The deceased, instead of sitting it out safely in vehicle, was taking down his EZ up when lightning hit it.
Prayers to his family and also all those hurt.

Dont see how this is Nascar's fault. Or anybody elses for that matter. Whether they told people to leave or not, they can leave any time they want to. For that matter, it can lightning any time, practically. Sucks to be there when it hits though.

It could happen at any outdoor event and is nothing more than an accident with no one at fault.
