Y'all are aware, aren't you, that when digital measuring tools start to die - the charge gets almost to the "too low to work" point - they start to lie?

I'm not too worried, mine doesn't take batteries. How about the time when you are using them and discover you need a new battery and you used the spare and don't have another. Now you have to stop and make a trip to the store. doesn't happen with the dial caliper.

that's why prudence dictates that when you use your spare.. you order another.

in the mean time.. the dial caliper can be used.

I keep two batteries in the case with the caliper and I have a supply of them in the house so I don't worry about it, even a tiny bit.

Yes, you are right. My friend owns a machine shop and that is why he uses analog.

can always emplow the scale mentality.. IE.. use a digital scale.. and check every 10th ot 20th load with an analog.. works the same with a digital or dial caliper.

it's not like it's one OR the other, and if you own a digital caliper you are prohibited from ever owning or using a dial one..

If you are loading 'critical' measurements......
and using a battery operated anything......
surely you are testing your batteries regularly.....
aren't you....?

I don't think anybody said that. The OP wanted to know which one we liked and why. I like dial better because of no batteries. Some people seem to think it's a big deal to worry about changing a battery. Some people think the digital is faster and easier. I have used both and for me it's just as fast and easy to read the dial. I could care less what other people use, this is what works for me.

seems to be easier to just verify measurements
