Well since Im from Texas and the majority of this hogwash is effecting parts of Texas. Im trying to enjoy my stay outside but I still feel nervous about staying out drinking. In the last 2 days, Ive used about a half of can of off. What are you other Texans doing? What about you JLA?

The unusual summer has caused more problems this year, This week here in Wilkes Barre PA an elderly man died from West Nile Virus after mosquito bite two weeks ago. They are spraying this week even though he was the only confirmed case of West Nile in the whole county.

In Fort Worth, here. I pretty much still spend my time out having some brews and don't pay the skeeters much mind. In Fla., when we were there, I found the off I used lasted very effectively for about 3-4 hours before I had to respray. Getting west nile is sort of a fluke as all mosquitoes don't carry it. And the vast majority show no symptoms. As for me, I did have a fever for about 4 weeks so I probably should have used some off, huh? So much for the fluke part...I've only been bitten twice this summer lol.

When sitting on my porch I use the citronella candles, and the Mosquito Repellent Patio Lantern from ThermaCELL http://www.thermacell.com/mosquito-r.../patio-lantern When out in the yard I usually don't use anything, but I do sometimes use Off.

In my opinion, the best way to be is away from the public, more privacy, and I dont have to spend money to go to a range. I can easily shoot at 2000 yard targets if i wanted to but I never have unless I had the right rig even though just about all centerfire rifle cartridges can easily go over 2 miles. Thanks carver for that idea. I think I worry too much, been that way my whole life

I know KY has had several cases this year with one being very serious. Woman almost died. We try to keep ANY standing water down here. The gold fish idea is great and I will try it at the afrm when I can or for sure next year.

Put out more hummingbird feeders, guys -
I have done this for years, and currently feeding about 2 gallons of nectar a day. These little guys don't just eat nectar; they eat slugs, snails, and various insects - including mosquito larvae and adults. I have not seen a mosquito here in several years -

Now here's what I don't understand:
Me- "Hey Jamud, I'm Bill." Him- "Hello there to you, sir." Me-"Where ya from, J?" Him- "Oh, the suburbs of Cairo, Egypt." Me-"Anywhere near the Nile river?" Him- "Ooh, yah, I grew up playing in the mud of the west bank." Me-"So how bad is the virus there, on the West Nile? " Him-"Virus? Ah,what virus?" Me-"The West Nile Virus, of course." Him-(blank stare)"I never heard of it..." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
