Don't give up on my guys. I have the grips made and finished, but have not had a chance to have the laser work done yet. The guy's daughter is in the hospital in real critical shape with cancer, they don't expect her to live much longer. He is by her bed side a lot. Said he would call me when he had time to do them. I am working on the other 10 sets for the TFF BBQ now. Should have them ready for the finish tomorrow. It is so humid here that it takes about double the time it should for the finish to dry. Then you have multiple coats to do and it just takes a long time. Plus I had to work 3 days last week in New Orleans for my X boss. That did not help speed up the grip making any either.
Like I said, don't give up on me. I will get er done.

Sam showed me his pistol with these grips on it a few weeks ago. Amazing! Like someone else said, it sure does make you look like a big shot rolling out with a pistol like that! Nice work!

Hey Songman, Welcome to the forum Sam has mentioned you to me. Thanks for the comments on the grips, I assume you are referring to the checkered Cocobolo.

Edit. I'll bet you meant the TFF grips.

Thanks Woodnut. Glad to be here... Yeah, I meant the TFF grips. Very nice! He showed me some others too that may have included the others you mentions. Wish my .40 would accept them but I'm sure it won't. Sure would make it pretty though.

Could you possibly make a set for a Taurus wheel gun?

For those of you that are interested in looking at more of my latest work, I have just added about 30 more pictures to my Gallery. Chick HERE to visit. You can now leave comments on the gallery at the bottom on the left. Or at least I think you can. Sometimes it works, Sometimes Not.

I am tempted to buy another 1911 just so I can dress it with a set of Carl's grips. He does absolutely beautiful work.

Speakin of grips.. Carl, you should see the red oak root I grabbed at work yesterday. We are in the midst of a septic install and during the dig out Between 2 giant red oaks we dug up part of the root system and I grabbed a section that had grown into a sprial and was bent into a horseshoe shape on one end, and has little feeder roots poking all out of it up and down the twisted part of the root. Soon as it dries out Im gonna split it. I bet its plum Burl.

Josh, I think oak loses it's color when dry, but it will still have the burl and maybe some figure. Let us know how it looks after you cut it!

Josh:
You need to put it in the dry, if it is not. Laying open in the truck bed will not let it dry properly because of rain and so forth.

How much would a set of 1911 TFF grips cost if there are any still available?

This was a one time build and I think I still have 3 or 4 sets left. Don't know off hand what the serial numbers are, but if you will email me I will look up the numbers and the price to the members was $65.00.
