arsenal 26 sks what is the value?... - The Firearms Forum

ok i just bought an sks yesterday. it has the
arsenal 26 and then the 3 chinese symbols
and serial number 7087062. the stock is like a
fiber glass material or something. on the other
side of the chamber is has printed "J.A. CHINA
SKS 7.62 GBE H.B. CA." everything has matching serial
numbers. the gun appears to never have been fired.
has no residue of powder anywhere! no paint
is rubbed off from noraml shooting. and the cleaning kit looks brand new.
i just want to know what exactly i have and what its worth.
also the word "norinco" appears nowhere on the gun

That is a model 59 SKS with what is referred to as the "Vietnam" stock made of a reddish brown fiberglass so wood beetles wouldn't eat it. Manufacture date should be somewhere between 1962-1963. If all it has is the triangle with the 26 in it, it is not a Norinco commercial made version. The GBE H.B CA is the importer stamp. The Chinese characters denote it as Type 56. Value in that condition would be somewhere around the $350-450 mark.

Just a word of caution... Make sure you clean the bolt very well. They have a habit of slam firing if dirty.
