Many 1911s are steel and heavy and built good and shoot great. Out of the 18 1911s that I own, 4 of them are colts. They are nice and they shoot good, but no better than any others I own. My smiths and sigs will hang with the colts side by side all day long. My rock island refuses to fail. I cant make it fail no matter how I try. It wont even hiccup. So, while colts are nice, you will pay an extra few hundred for the name. Is it worth it? To some it is. The jury is still out there for me.

Ya think? 18 and looking for more. I quit buying anything else. The 1911 platform rocks!

I have several revolvers and several poly guns too but seldom shoot anything but my 1911s.

Great looking collection Dan, I can see that my collection has a long way to go. My favorite for shooting or carrying is still my old Colt Series '70 in a Milt Sparks Yaque Slide. I have had that holster since Milt Sparks was doing business out of Idaho City. Call me old fashioned but I just like things that have been tried and tested.

I'll have to use your photo DD to convince the wife I 'need' more, only have 4 myself, sold my first one like an idiot. well, 4.5, I've not finished my commander build yet. need to finish barrel/slide/frame fit and install my sights yet plus finish checkering the front strap.

See honey, this guy has 18! I need at least a couple more...

I noticed all have the correct magazine in them also!

There are some of my 1911s missing in that picture, but yes, I use wilson combat mags. There are a few folks here that have twice as many as I do. Limbkiller has at least 32-34 or more.

I have 2 dozen WC mags and it seems like I hardly have any! need about a hundred of 'em... same for my other guns, I was cleaning and marking magazines a few months ago, M1A, AR/M4, 1911, Glock x 3, FAL and AK and realized after some quick math, I had many thousands of dollars in magazines but it still feels like I don't have enough!

A gun is nothing but a single shot unless ya have mags for it.
