I've had my Sig Sauer 1911 22 for a couple of months now. Function with CCI Mini Mags and Winchester Super X has been flawless. My only complaints have been poor finish on the slide and cheap sights.
As seen in the first pics the finish is disappearing on multiple edges of the slide. ![]() ![]() The slide is cast aluminum so blending and rounding was easily done with 320 grit paper. I was surprised how rough the surface was once I bead blasted. I went with semi gloss HK black DuraCoat. I replaced the rear sight with the original sight from my Wilson CQB and will replaced the front sight with a FO soon ![]() ![]()

cool. I need to get a 1911 .22, been putting it off too long. Now that ammo is so freakin expensive, a .22 version of my favorite gun needs to be in my collection.
I remember the days of going out and putting 4-5000 rounds a week thru the 1911 on lower enlisted army pay! not so much anyore... but with one of those I could do that again. Nice lookin' piece, and glad to hear she functions well. thanks for sharing!

I agree, the finish on the Sig blows! Not long after I got the Sig I saw a Colt and grabbed it. It just looked like a tad better quality, it was! Better finish, better shooting.
Roughly the same price, can't remember exactly. I like the Colt much better! Nice job on the slide brass tacks! Wish I was artist enough to pull that off! ![]() ![]() |
