Twas the night before election
Twas the night before election and all through the house
Everyone was hungry, even the mouse.
The stocking were hung 3 years ago with care
In hopes that St Nick would soon be there
The children were nestled all in their beds
No air condition was on, it was miserable dred
Mamma in her work cloths and I in my cap
Had just settled our empty stomachs for a long winters nap
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprung up from bed to see what was the matter.
To my wondering eyes should appear
The one in charge for 3 long year
“Now Tyrone, Now Sebrina, Now Queen Latifa
On Rufus, On Dufus, On Cassandra and chili Mac”
“Get yo a@@ on the poearch”
“And dash away dash away dash away all”
Before I knew it he was on the roof
Making noise with his sack
Then he ordered his clan to stay back
And down the chimney Barry came down.
His eyes were like dollar signs
His cheeks were like chocolate
He pulled out a pack of Luckys
And lit up a match
He was skinny and stinky
NO bath in a while
And with that look in his eye and a twist of his head
I knew I would be better off dead
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work
He packed all our stuff in our stocking we had hung
And send them up the chimney so he could give away some
When he was done he handed me a book
A Smile came upon his face.
He said this is my gift to you, it’s my daddy’s dream.
You shall pay for his vision.
And record it in this book.
That you mom and dad for electing this man.
Who are you going to serve today?
