I feel more comfortable with my stainless pistol in the rain than I do with my blued rifle.
It doesn't really matter to me what they look like; it is the functionality/reliability factor that interests me the most.

Old School! I like mine blued! Now days though, you can't always find that next gun you want in Blue.

Love both but, if I'm out and shooting a few thousand rounds during the course of a week, rain/snow or shine, I like stainless.

No doubt about it and if I could afford it, I would have it done on every gun that I own,
NP3 by Robar industries. Looks like stainless but i the most durable finish I have ever seen. This P7 M13 is one that I now carry lot and after many years you can find no holster wear marks or any other marks. ![]() UF |

My parkerized Springfield 1911 holds up well in my holster. Doesn't look as nice as bluing though.
Aah who'm I kidding. I gots to have the gold-plated tiger stripe finish.

Although I like ALL finishes depending
on which gun they are on, my most favorite for durability and cleaning is the 'black matte' S&W finish.....hands down ! BUT.....no finish on my 3screw is --the most beautiful-- !!!!! ![]()

Blue or black.
The only SS I have is the Papoose, and it's brushed.

Not fond of SS pistols, but like the look of a SS revolver. Rifles look good either way. I think Ruger makes a SS/synthetic stock over-and-under, it looks pretty awesome. As far as functionality, I hear SS barrels take awhile to heat up and take longer to cool down. Nickel and chromium supposedly change the steel's thermal dynamics a bit.

Note: S&W black matte finish
This particular Smith 67 Fcomp generally only gets W231 powder, not the cleanest powder around. The cylinder face, forcing cone, even the top of the bbl around the magna port hardly ever have any visible powder residue, unlike all of the other revolvers me and MamaOzo shoot. Her fave is her GP100 SS and it is a rare day that she shoots less than 100-150 rounds [avg] and her 'jeep' is filthy [W231]...........as is my 608..... my Blackhawk.....etc. This alone caught my immediate attention to the finish.

Oh.....and hardly any 'drag marks' on the cylinder........weird !
This could be valuable info if someone tried to sell you one claiming it was .......new and unfired..........

I love blued but recently have started to buy stainless as they hold their finish better and are easier to care for.

I like the blued, but my EDC is stainless as that was what I found when looking for a CCW piece so I impulse bought it. Have to say it's held up well.

Stainless is more expensive for a reason. Holds up better to rust. Wouldn't bother me if all my guns were SS. Think that is the way to go. Like cerakote though too, but that wasn't one of the choices.

I prefer stainless myself, though that would not stop me from buying a firearm with a blued finish if it met my needs.
