Default Good News for 358

@PensacolaNewsJournal

ALEXANDRIA, VA. -- The Base Realignment and Closure Commission on Thursday rejected the Department of Defense's recommendations to move almost 800 jobs out of the Pensacola Bay Area.

During its second day of deliberations, the commission voted unanimously to keep the Naval Education and Training Command at Pensacola Naval Air Station and the Naval Education Training Professional Development and Technology Center at Saufley Field.

Bad News we are in the strike zone for Katrina

Red River Depot missed the chopping block here in Texas. Was going to work for them at one time, but saw this blurb in the rumor mill seven or eight months back---did not want to take the chance. Course the other reason was, since they rebuild and test all units coming back in the states, as in rearm......I might have been tempted to mosey off with a quad twenty. Got a real nice testing ground for firepower testing........I might have turned left and simply disappeared with a new hog killer. LOL

That is very good news (not the strike zone for Katrina!). Jacksonville was spared in cuts; in fact, Jax NAS will pick up some jobs. Also, there is a possibility that Oceana NAS, VA assets will move to a reopened Cecil Field NAS. However, with John Warner the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I don't see that happening.

I wish you the best for Katrina.
