This is a war! The press should be shut down, or at least not allowed anywhere near the fighting.
BTW, wasn't the movie "Blackhawk Down" based on something similar?

A perfect reason for the media to be restricted from war zones.

And "lost" if they try to get in.

Just a hair off topic here.

"Afghanistan-based New York Times reporter Dexter Filkins, in a blog posted to the newspaper's website yesterday, wrote: "New Zealand? At war? Who knew? Not a lot of New Zealanders, apparently."

Maybe if the "New York Slimes" had not spent the last 8 years telling the world that nobody supported the U.S. in the War On Terror, they would know, you pompous as*.

Sorry, rant off.

During the VN war, the US didn't censor journalists because of "freedom of the press", but warned them that the satellite uplinks were not secure. Some leftist American "reporters" sent their papers "stories" that involved detailed American troop movements, intended only to allow the VC/NVA to ambush and kill Americans. AFAIK, not one of those treasonous "journalists" was ever punished.
