Default What's happening in my neck of the woods...

http://host.madison.com/ct/news/loca...cc4c03286.html

Quote:
Gov. Scott Walker received an online death threat Friday, with a poster on Facebook asking if it wouldn't be better to kill the governor instead of mounting a recall election, Capitol police reported.
Capitol police confirmed the death threat on Monday, three days after it had been posted on Facebook. The posting was removed from Facebook on Monday.
Chief Charles Tubbs said police became aware of the threat on Monday, and identified and interviewed the poster.
"Capitol police takes any threat directed towards those who visit or work in the Capitol seriously," Tubbs said in a news release Monday.
The chief added the department generally does not comment on specific security issues.
Milwaukee radio station WTMJ reported what was posted online:
On the Facebook page "Recall Walker Kick Off Rally," a woman with the screen name "Regan Cowan" wrote, "Rather than recall him...Can we kill him instead? Just curious."
"Dee Her" responded, "HA!!! He's signed a bill allowing conceal carry IN the Capitol...Someone just may get away with it!!!"
To which Cowan responded, "I'm game!"
WTMJ said Walker has extra security now.
Walker did not comment on the threat.

2. Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

5. Our necks [are] under persecution: we labour, [and] have no rest.
16. The crown is fallen [from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
21. Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

Had a History teacher back in the mid 60s in High School who said to us "The History books are written by the winners". Anti Socialists who investigated the Socialist influance in the film industry and newspapers were demonized in the late 50s and early 60s as "looking for a Communist under every bed" and were stero-typed as racists, bungling ignorant "Archie Bunkers".

The Socialists now openly run the film industry and news services. They just changed their names from "Communists or Socialists" to "Progressives or Liberals". Look at who's writing the History books these days.

Same cereal - just a new box. By the way - does anybody still think that the Soviets and Red Chinese just gave up and decided to be our buddies? They are still our mortal enemies, and those who support them are traitors.

Nixon, Ford and Carter worked to normalize relations with Red China - we sold out Cambodia along the way - and full diplomatic relations with China were established in 1979. Every president since that time has assisted China in one way or another, helping them build up their economy, their military strength, their technology.... back in the 1990s, Motorola sent engineers to China to launch Iridium satellites from Chinese launchpads.... now the Chinese have their own space program.

Jim, a lot of the younger guys might not have any personal memories of the Cold War days, so we might as well be discussing a Sci-Fi movie as far as they're concerned..... but it seems to me that the United States is the side that just gave up and decided to be "buddies".

Well that and I thought Nixon originally decided to recognize Red China to separate them from supporting North Vietnam in an effort to get North Vietnam to the bargaining table and negotiate a cease-fire.

There are MANY ways to bring your enemies around to your way of thinking, some just take more time than others. I wonder if some of you will recant your words when the Red chinese stop being 'RED' in the next 20 years.
After all, MOST people are just people, and when you give them a taste of the better (Capitolistic) way of life, they come around.
The old Communists are dying off, soon their influence will just be a chapter in the history books. And the newer, younger and "I want this" generation will lead China into a newer, brighter future.
Those who say it won't work should just look at the former Soviet Union.
Or you can just rattle your swords and fill body bags.

No sword rattlin' here, Bro. Just the fact that if you or anyone else thinks for one minute that the Russians or the Red Chinese have 'turned over a new leaf" or "found Jesus", you are sadly mistaken.

Why do you think that Russia and China block each and every move that we have attempted to make within the United Nations to do things like leash North Korea or Iran? Could all of this possibly be co-incidence? I seriously doubt it. Fact of the matter is that they hate us and forever will seek to destroy us.

The Cold War never ended for Putin or the Red Chinese. We all LIKE TO THINK that things are peachy-keene, but the only thing that changed is that Russia and Red China have realized that they can beat us at our own game. They just need to be patient, and they are patient.

The Chinese have moved into the 21st Century with material goods. Other than that, they are the same folks who swarmed into North Koea to fight us in the early 50s. Don't think that they are a changed, peacable people because they expanded their highway system.

The "satelite States" that comprised the former Soviet Union are only a whisper away from being forced back into that empire. Russia still pulls the strings in them. There are many examples, but to bring out one - how about that airplane 'accident' that killed off almost the entire Polish leadership team. Think about it. The Polish government was dealing with the issue of the 1000s of butchered Polish Army Officers under Stalin's regime. The spotlight sure came off of that in one quick hurry, didnt it? Nobody asked many questions about the 'accident', did they? Russia still has it boot firmly on the throat of Eastern Europe.

I truly wish that I am somehow wrong, and that those of you who think that the Russian bear and the Chinese dragon are now tame critters are right. I believe that one day in the very near future that they will un-mask themselves. Believe me, that day will not be one to find me saying "I told you so". It will be much too horrible for that.
