The latest I heard about this situation is that the courts have ordered BATF to restore rights to some and the BATF is ignoring those court orders, claiming they don't have funding to do so. Check in with the 2nd Amendment Foundation and RKBA.

That's a load of bull-puckey.

How much funding could it possibly take? All it requires is a few minutes on a computer.

You are beginning to see clearly, my friend. Be careful about advertising that fact. You could find yourself declared a danger to your country. [/sarcasm]

The issue is that Congress, after much crying of "Wolf" about the "guns for felons" program declared that, yes, the ATF was responsible for providing relief, but that they were allowed to spend NO budget on said relief efforts, whatsoever.

This has kept a gentleman, whose only "crime" was having a box of ammo under the seat of his car when he went to Mexico, from ever participating in shooting sports again. He was a successful gun-store owner and FFL holder who lost his rights to even own a gun, much less engage in his business, because of a law that even Mexico said was stupid and repealed because of his case. Everyone who has seriously looked at his case has said that he should have his rights restored, *including the ATF*, but because our wonderful Congress has forbidden the expenditure of any governement funds on relief investigations, he's forever out in the cold.

This is an issue which should be pushed and pushed hard. If any government agency is allowed to ignore court orders without redress, it says the state of our freedom is ready for intensive care. In this case, the agency has been ORDERED by our hired hands (Congress) to ignore court orders.

It is time for the big clubs to come out.

Incidently, bob1007, shouting (ALL CAPS) is not necessary here on the forum. Thanks

I would definitely not drop the issue. Sometimes if you push hard enough, they will do what you want just to get you to stop bugging them. Government workers are inherently lazy (don't anybody flame me for that, please), so you need to make it easier for them to just do what you're asking than to refuse.

It's kinda like training a horse. They will always go to their comfort zone. If you want a horse to do something, make it uncomfortable for him to NOT do what you're asking. That way, he learns that he will be most comfortable when he's doing what you want. The BATF is the same way.

You are well within your rights here. Press the issue.
