Default member id pic?

how do i change my member id pic below my login name on the forum pages?

i have some pics, i go into my profile, choose to change it, i pick a pic, then it says it is too big.

so i open my pic with paint, then resize it to 100x100 pixels, and all i get is a pic of what was in the very upper left hand corner. not the whole image.

could you please help me?

thanks!

First, an avatar needs to be no larger than 80x80 pixels. The clue then is to use your usual photo program and resize what you wish to use so that the largest side is no larger than 80 pixels.

You can then insert it as you did originally without any problem.

If you need additional details, you can find it here:

Good luck!

Your problem is that you're using Paint to edit your picture. When you "resize" in Paint, you are actually "cropping", which results in cutting down the picture to the number of pixels you select as measured from the upper left corner, as you have discovered.

You need to find a better image editing software. There are dozens out there. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements, and have been pleased with it.

ETA:
If you will post the pic you want to use as an attachment to a post, I can resize it for you.

Halfway down, right side, is a good simple photo editor for that kind of work. I have several others which I use for complex work, but that one does most of the work I need to do for TFF publication with only a few clicks.

Here it is, Matty.

When you download it, be sure to save it in .jpg format.

I took the liberty of adding it to your profile and options. Is that what you wanted to show??
