I am interested in any opinions on this rifle and caliber from forum members. We live in Missouri and hunt whitetails at short to medium ranges.
Thanks,
Jim

EXCELLENT CHOICE -- I have the CZ550-American chambered in the 6.5x55SE and am 98% pleased.

I use a 7X57 for hunting whitetail and have found it to be perfictly suited to the task. I handload, and like 140 grain Nosler Partitions. The CZ 550 is a quality rifle. You can't go wrong with this combination.

Thanks for all the feedback! Am now the proud owner of a CZ 550, 7x57. I am very happy with the rifle. The machining and woodwork are well crafted, and the balance is excellent!
As a much younger hunter, my first purchase was a German Mauser in 7x57, and I used it on many a successful hunt for deer and moose. In my foolish youth, I traded "up" to .308 Win, then 30-06, and then .308 Norma Mag.
Now, with more than a few grey whiskers, I have rid myself of the "Elmer Keith" syndrome, and have been using a Rem 700 in .243 for Missouri whitetails with excellent results. But I always did regret ever parting with that trusty old 7x57, and the CZ is a fine replacement.
With warmer weather coming, I'm hoping to get out soon for an afternoon of breaking it in with 20 rounds and hte bore brush.
Thanks again, Jim
