That's basically all I know. A friend wants to sell it- I told him it may be worth more than he thinks. Can anyone help me? He says it's in excellent condition. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not much info.
I did sell a 1943 Ithica US marked 1911 for $850 and it was in excellent condition. But, excellent to one person may not be excellent to the next. |

According to my friend, the year it was made. I should probably look at the gun, ascertain it's condition, and find the serial number. I'm sure that would help. Thanks.

If it was made after 1945 it is a civilian Colt and the value is entirely different than a military issue 1911. See if you can send a photo.
