My thought exactly Carver. I certainly will not be shedding any tears over his demise, however I have zero confidence that him being gone will result in any improvement in muslim attitudes and conduct, in Libya or anywhere else.

You are right Carver. We are going to have to deal with them sooner or later and the longer we wait the larger and stronger they become.

If our leaders would keep them out of this country, we might have a chance. There is a big ocean between their home lands, and ours.

I'm truely suprised that he was still in the country. I had assumed he would have packed up his money and left for Switzerland.

I'm pretty sure we all know what they will do. They will vote in a radical and will once again become a enemy of America and in another couple decades, we can do this all again.

They were slaughtering a group of Christians in Egypt a few days ago. I don't expect Libya to be any different.

Some of you may recall that on 5 April 1986, Libyan terrorists bombed a Berlin nightclub that was frequented by GIs. Several were killed; one was a good friend of mine. I was on CQ the night it happened. After Reagan bombed Libya, I sent him a thank you card.

I got a Christmas card from Reagan that year, which is hanging in a frame on the wall just over my head right now.

Gaddafi is finally barking in hell. Roast for eternity, you *******g cock(roach).

So now the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt, Syria, Libya, Iran etc and all unite to destroy Israel? Barry O has already demonstrated, like all Muslims, he hates Israel, so will stutter and stammer, but as usual he'll do nothing. He and his henchmen support the FLEA PARTY now occupying the streets of NY and other cities, and they have publicly announced hatred of Jews. He'll probably start a POGRAM if he can think of a way to blame it on someone else. Probably he will blame it on Bush!

I liked that they dragged him out of hiding in a drain culvert. Like Sadam Hussain in a spider hole. All those murderous dictators deserve to die in a sewer like rats.

How long before a lot of Libyans regret - several hundred billion dollars worth -killing him ? But there's a lot of bankers toasting Gaddafi's death, I'm sure ! I know its my suspicious nature but - as one of his bankers - I'd have paid a bundle to make sure he died before he could be forced to yield where the money is......Whoopee ! An indefinite term "free loan" ! >MW

Have you ever checked to see the value of the signature. Early in his presidency he signed an initiative to develop alternative fuels and to support coal industry and being from the coal region I sent a letter of support and forgot about it. A month or so later I got a letter from the White House in a brown envelope with cardboard to stiffen it and there was a thank you letter on White House stationary which was about 6" X 9" and was not folded. It contained a note indicating that it was sent this way as it was signed by President Reagan. I framed it but screwed the corners up a bit but was wondering if his signature has appreciated any.

You can bet it has appreciated in value. I've divested myself of a lot of stuff in the last few years, but I'm hanging onto this. I really don't think it was "machine signed".

It's an odd story. I got out of the Army, moved around a bit, stayed at my folks' house in Texas for a while, then moved to Denver to get married. I was staying for a few weeks at my future mother-in-law's house until I get settled.

That card came to her house, addressed to me. It wasn't forwarded. I'm still a bit agog over that.

I also have original photographs of President Reagan when he did an aircraft change at Fort Campbell in 1984. He was, I believe, the first president to visit that base since FDR. It wasn't an official visit - he was going somewhere that Air Force One couldn't land, so he was switiching to the Marine One helicopter. The CG announced that anyone who wanted to see Reagan could go to the airfield - he was just supposed to wave and walk across the tarmac a few yards to the chopper. But Reagan saw all those troops behind the ropes, turned out to see him, and he strode across the airfield and spent about 30 minutes shaking hands. The Secret Service nearly lost their minds. It was a seminal moment in my life - I was about 9 feet from him, couldn't get close enough to shake his hand, but I hopped up on an orange barrel and took a few photographs. I've never put them online because sure enough, some jackwad will steal 'em and sell 'em on eBay.
