Default Did you folks hear about . . .

Has anyone heard about the new 1911 style pistol coming out from Glock? I hear they intend it especially for those shooters who like to do their practice just a little before lunch. They plan to call it . . .

The 11-o'-Glock.

OK, OK, I know. Puns are the lowest form of humor. I know I promised to be good, but I just couldn't resist.

Ya know, Southern, trolling around here on the 1911 Forum like this might get us both dropped in the river some night with concrete overshoes!

Puns are bad but Limericks are verse.

Groan!!

You mean a Limerick like this one, cec? A classic . . .

There once was a lady from Niger,
Who went for a ride on a tiger.
They came back from the ride
With the lady inside,
And a smile on the face of the tiger.

Or this one . . .

A pansy who lived in Khartoum
Took a lesbian up to his room,
And they argued all night
Over who had the right
To do what, and with which, and to whom.

And then, of course, there is always the famous . . .

There once was a man from Nantucket . . .

Hmmmm, better not go there. This is a family forum and SoMo would be most vexed with me.

1911's are what they are but a Glock is born perfect thats why they all look the same, Dont get me wrong I like my Glock but I just got my first 1911 tuesday and I really like it. as much as my glock,(dont tell her she's jelious) it being imperfect gives me the opportunity to make it close to perfect. they are like kids they all look different but you like them for their good qualities not the bad.

Hey, Pistol - -

Another advantage, once one finishes shooting at lunch time, no need to clean, just chunk it into the dishwasher along with all the other Tupperware® !!!!!

True Marlin, but at least with a Glock one does not have to worry about it turning into nothing but a big pile of iron oxide if it gets wet.

Pistol,

That's why Saint John Moses of the Browning insist on the use of gun oil on all of his children. I know I certainly do.

Even the stainless ones.

Kinda like a sprinkling of Holy Water, Berto? When tuning a 1911 automatic, I hear gunsmiths often call in a priest to say the Rite of Exorcism over the pistol to drive out all the demons. Sometime the slide even puts itself on backwards during the Rite, or so I hear.

Sorry, Berto, just couldn't resist.

Just ribbin' ya, my friend. Actually, I like and shoot both Glocks and Colts. Only time I've ever had any serious problem controlling rust on a 1911 pistol was during the monsoon season in Vietnam. Keeping it clean and well oiled pretty well took care of that problem, but neglecting that task was not a good idea!

Born in 1944, this seems the perfect opportunity to subtract 1911, leaving 33. Add to this my date of birth (1944 minus eleven = 1933). Now the fun really begins. Add 11 to 33, get 44, and, plus the magic one, 45, God's gun of choice. Am I the next messy sigh, ah, or what?
