A week ago I posted a thread having to do with Mardi Gras in Mobile. A fellow TFF'er who goes by Chemfantry responded. Turns out he is from Mobile, and is in one of the mystic societies here in Mobile. (For those of you who don't know, the mystic societies are the organizations who put on the Mardi Gras parades. There are many of them who each parade on particular nights). So here is a guy who is stationed in Ft. Campbell Ky., who just happens to be from my hometown! Just got off the phone with him, and it turns out I know his brother. Anyway, were gonna meet up tomorrow night in person at my favorite bar. (Turns out he is very familiar with that particular bar also!)
I just thought it was quite a coincidence to have conversed with him on TFF before and it turns out he is a 'homeboy'! There will be drinking tomorrow night and I'm sure I will unwisely try to hang with him. That wouldn't be so bad except he is half my age and in good shape. Me,...not so good. We will have to lift a glass to TFF!

Just FYI...I used to do the aspirin thing myself after a night of drinking so I didn't end up ith a headache in the morning..UNTIL...I mentioned the habit to a doctor. He told me if ones goal was to eat a whole through your stomach he could think of no quicker way than taking aspirin on top of alcohol.

Haha, that's very cool... I used to participate in Mustang (and general car) message forums but quickly tired of some of the garbage in those places. I did however meet a lot of good people, who I still talk with today (I work with 3 of them now).

That's great. I've heard before that if you met a stranger anywhere in the country that there was an almost 100% probability that someone you knew and someone they knew, knew each other. I love connecting with people that way. The most dramatic experience I had was in Vietnam. In 69 around TET they were expecting a major attack on our rear base like occured a year earlier. They pulled some units back to reinforce their perimeter. So I'm in this bunker with a guy from another battalion. As usual we passed the time telling each other stories of home. Our conversation went on for a couple hours when I happened to mention the name of a teenage type nightclub (no booze) that I used to go to all the time. He said .."wow, where are you from..we had a place back home by the same name. Yep..turns out we were both from Akron. In fact it turns out my sister and his uncle were friends and neighbors. Anyway...have a great time time tomorrow night. This gets me thinking..a get together, (bash) as chatrooms call it..might be a nice thing for us to arrange for TTF.

Russ, ya gotta take some pics of the night to help you remember in the morning.
I also remember seeing a unwritten TFF rule about having to post above mentioned pics on the forum for the merriment of others. ![]() "Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler" "Let The Good Times Roll" Hope yall have a good one!! ![]() Art

![]() Have enjoyed this post...and some truth for sure. Dont know about the 100% for sure fire about ..if you meet someone somewhere then 100% that he will know someone that you will? ....Why..I think the odds may be higher even than that..! ( Quote : from Ed Norton to Ralph..after Ralph had just stated 100% assuredness of something...) tryin to be funny.maybe older ones will get.... ![]() |

Pickenup, you bad! I remember when FirstInLine and I went to that convention. I didn't mind puting the drapes back up. I didn't mind replacing the table with the hobnail boot footprints on it. I didn't even mind so much the ... ummmmm ... stuff in the back toilet.
What I did mind was the hangover the cats had when we came back. ![]() Pops |

Its interesting, I mean how would most of us have met if it were not here? Not at all I guess, which I think would be a shame.
