SOMETIMES that is a seperate sloped rubber spacer. look at replcaement antenna kits.. most come with a couple different spacers and cup pieces to fit a variety of metal body panels. mind you with an OEM part.. it sure could be molded in. if it is easy to get to the backside.. take a look at it

original equipment manufacturer. as opposed to aftermarket.
IE.. the antenna assembly provided by GM for a gm vehicle would be an OE or OEM replacement part.. but the one that you get at autozone that fits 4000 different cars is a semi-universal aftermarket part.. thus the extra and different mounting grommets.. |

on many, the antenna top unscrews from the base. if the rubber part is damaged and leaking water into the body panel, you will need to remove the base and coax cable to the back of the dash. depending on vehicle type.. it may be a non fun job. might ne something a good cleaning and carefull application of black rtv might take care of.
as far as reception.. the aerial will be pretty universal.. |

that's just the lil top piece. IE.. if the antenna top breaks off. that doesn't repalce the grommed between the antenna base and the car though.,
it's unclear bout where yours is dmage.. can you post a picture? |

I suggest you first submit the make/model/year of the car and the location of the antenna. Pictures would be even better. From your post I'm surmising a fender mount antenna, but a mount with a dress gasket between the antenna base and the fender or other part of the car. Replacements are available. Requires accessing the underside of the antenna and removing the retaining nut/washer. If the replacement gasket isn't split you can "cheat" by making a cut enabling you to slip it over the antenna lead. Repair this slit with RTV and re-assemble. >MW |

Beth just get a piece of Duct Tape and cover it up. That way no one will see the rubber Gasket. Red and Green Style

Chances are all hYundai's for several model yrs. use the same antenna. You might try local junk yards for a complete antenna assembly or just the rubber piece you need. Sometimes all the work can be done from the top but since the antenna is not a normal replacement item, they may have to be accessed from underneath as in removing the fender. Generally, at least the mast can be replaced without much trouble. Good luck.
