I got bored waiting for the phone to ring for that next job interview, so I decided to make a new target stand, it breaks down for portability, I like reactive targets, I also like to punch paper and try for good groups, I built it with these things in mind,
The jugs filled with water are for the high powered rifles at 200-400 yards, no problem telling if you made a hit or not, The tin cans, gong (more of a “ding” probably), and bottle caps around the perimeter are for rim fire, the nails on the top work well for holding upside down, empty shotgun shells, try to hit the brass at 100 yds with the scoped Mod 75 .22 (if there’s no wind), 50 yds if it’s windy, an obvious hit when you hit the brass, The golf balls, old tennis balls, and other old balls should be fun, The orange, and large, over-ripe lime’s (look like lemons, but they are limes) from the trees in the backyard should make a nice “splat”, And some paper targets are needed for attempts at grouping/bragging rights, sighting in with new/different ammo etc, It also holds my compound bow target (last pic), this is just 5 flattened boxes, with bubble wrap between layers, and a painted ice cream bucket lid for a target, I shoot my 45 year old Ben Pearson 55lb re-curve at it, and my modern compound, it will stop the carbon compound arrows 3-4 inches before the fletching, so no feather damage, Ready, and need to get out in the next couple of weeks and do some shooting, sitting around waiting for the phone to ring is the worst,

Lots to shoot at on that target 1 Eyed Jack! I save my empty 2 liter drink bottles too. Fill them with water, and a little food coloring. Easy clean up too.

Ive been all over the south, east of the Mississippi and I have a VERY STUPID question. This has been in the back of my mind for some time now, and call it stupid and that it may well be.
What tree does a coccnut come from? (what tree) I've seen plenty of Palm tress and can only assume that "palms" come from Palm trees. ![]() ![]()
