Default Practical .357Mag Revolver

I was thinking of getting a practical open carry/kitchen defense .357 Magnum. Here are my primary wants:
Size: Medium - No hand cannons or snubs. I think around 4" barrel is 'normal' for a revolver.
Weight: Sturdy. A bit on the heavy side, even. I want it medium sized, but built for taking hot loads (I'm a man who loves his hot ammo)
Finish: Moisture resistent, corrosion resistant
Capacity: 5 or 6.

Any recommendations?

L-frame S&W like the 586/686 or the Ruger GP100. 686 is avail in a 7 shot and the Ruger is just about indestructible but isn't as smooth as the L-frames.

Go to a gunshow.
Find an N-Frame Smith M28.
Buy it.
The old Smiths will suite your needs still today!!
I found mine for $300!!

I have had a Ruger Security Six and it is a fantastic revolver. Very solid.

I would opt for a Smith 686. It is a smooth handling .357.

686 / GP100 / Mod.19 S&W / MOD.28 S&W / Colt / Taurus

There are lots to choose from I like the ones I have because they fit me
mod 19 S&W 4 inch / GP100 6inch and a 2 inch 5 shot mod.605 Taurus

get one that fits you and you will be happy with the 357mag my favorite caliber in a wheel gun.

4" S&W 686....

I have one, and it's the perfect .357 magnum.

(I also have one in 6" but that might be a little too much barrel for what you're looking for)

here is another vote for a security six. Excellent revolver.
I have been eyeballing the comanche line at sog. 6 inch barrel and stainless for under 200. The only one i have seen up close and personal was a 22 version. Appeared to be a copy of a colt.

Kitchen Defense? Hmmm. My wife's tuna casserole has offended me. But not so much I've wanted to take a shot at it.
I'd better stop before you get the idea that I'm casting aspersions on your mate's cookin'.

I would also agree that the 686 would be the best choice.
