NAVY SEAL TEAM 9 Scum 0, two hostages freed!

These guys are unreal, they do these very dangerous missions better than we can play a video game. I'M SO PROUD OF ALL OF THEM!

In Daring Raid, Navy SEALs Free 2 Aid Workers From Somali Kidnappers

In a daring raid reminiscent of the kind used to kill Osama bin Laden, U.S. Navy SEALs swooped into Somalia Wednesday morning and rescued two aid workers, who had been held by pirates for months.

The New York Times reports the soldiers came in by helicopter and engaged in a firefight that killed nine pirates. The SEALs left with Jessica Buchanan, a 32-year-old American, and a 60-year-old Dane, Poul Thisted, who were injury free and on their way home.

President Obama authorized the mission on Monday and by the time he stepped into the House chambers last night for his State of the Union address, he knew the mission had been successful. As ABC News reports, that explains why Obama detoured to thank Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on his way in.

NBC News describes the operation:

"According to the U.S. officials, two teams of Navy SEALs landed by helicopter near the compound where the two hostages were being held. As the SEALS approached the compound on foot gunfire broke out, the U.S. officials said, and several of the militants were reportedly killed. There is no word that any of the Americans were wounded.

"The SEALs gathered up Buchanan and Thisted, loaded them onto the helicopters and flew them to safety at an undisclosed location. The two hostages were not injured during the rescue operation and are reported to be in relatively good condition."

The president issued a statement, this morning, praising the Special Operations forces.

"Last night I spoke with Jessica Buchanan's father and told him that all Americans have Jessica in our thoughts and prayers, and give thanks that she will soon be reunited with her family," Obama said in a statement. "The United States will not tolerate the abduction of our people, and will spare no effort to secure the safety of our citizens and to bring their captors to justice. This is yet another message to the world that the United States of America will stand strongly against any threats to our people.".........CONTINUED.......

Why the hell are we advertising that a "top secret" team was involved? Not long ago you never heard which team did something like this just "US special forces", since bin ladin their being specific. I thought there was a thing called operational security

I suppose I need to be convinced why the US should jeopardize the lives of brave men to save people who go to places they should not be in.

I guess we need to tell thugs (which these guys were), pirates, terrorists and others that if you bother good people you will not be safe anywhere on this earth.

And people who are working at giving aid to the poor, sick and starving people on this planet are doing something worthwhile. They need to know they'd be as protected as possible.

Well, all we need now is the press release from bozo telling us how HE put together Seal 6 to do the mission.

I understand your sentiment and I certainly appreciate the SEALS.
But, I just think that if people are stupid enough to voluntarily walk into hades, they need to accept that risk as their own.
I guess I remember that "BlackHawk Down" part of history.

Its all about politics. Do you suppose that the timing of the raid had anything to do with the SOTU reading. obama cares nothing about the people held captive, its all about him and his scumbag bunch looking good. The SEALS, just like the American people are being used.

It's good the SEALS got some live fire training, but I also question the motivation for the raid. It was entirely political. Since Obummer can't do anything right, he is trying to look good by riding the coattails of those who know what they are doing.

These people were abducted October last year. Why so long?
