I just got back from a local gunshow where I purchased a carbine barrel, bolt, and shoulder stock upper for a 1911 gripframe lower. Unfortunatly there was no book or instructions. Is anyone familiar with this setup? Or better yet does anyone have a manual or a website for this?

You are probably reffering to the Mech-Tech Carbine kit. Make sure when you put it toghter that you don't leave your house with the buttstock installed and the short pistol barrel is installed.
This is probably the maufactor http://www.mechtechsys.com/index.html
