Default winchester model 1892

I own a model 1892 made in 1907. all original .32 cal with octoganol barrel. I would say it is 70-80% in regards to condition. What is a rifle like this worth? I do not know if I should shoot it or not. Thanks,Don

I too have an old 1892 Winchester marked in 32-10 in 100%. But it turns out it was refinished and changed to 357Mag probably sometime in the 1960's as that was what everybody did in those days with old $50 guns. Before I realized what it was I asked and looked around and got numbers for its value if original in the $1000+ range. This was a couple of years back. With the closing of the Winchester plant back east and the end of all Winchester lever action rifles made in America, the value of guns like the 1892 will sky rocket soon.

I would not shoot it and risk damaging it in any way if you care about it as an investment. Take it to a gun show and shop it around (don't sell it, just see what you get offered for it). I'll bet the numbers will get bigger than that $1000 range I suggested.

I shoot mine and love it. It looks good, shoots the 357Mag well, and handles well. I got mine for what it is: a refurbished, caliber modified lever gun. I certainly could at least get my money back but it will never be for sale by me. Maybe my kids will sell it after I am gone but I sure won't.

Your Winchester '92 in .32 caliber is .32-20, not .32 Winchester.

Generally speaking, a '92 Rifle or Carbine is worth $1,500 to $1,600 in 80% condition, $1,250 to $1,300 in 70%.....but it could be worth more.

In order to give you a value, we'll need to know the following:

Musket (30" bbl), Rifle (24" bbl), Carbine (20" bbl) or Trapper's Carbine (14", 15", or 16" bbl)???

Solid frame or takedown?

Serial # above or below 168,000?

Plain or fancy pistol grip checkered wood (Deluxe Model)?
