I have a Harrington & Richardson 20 ga shot gun.its a topper model 88 when was it made

Probably between 1992 - 1995 and reintroduced on 1998. Close as I can get with no information.

the h&r model 088 was manufactured between 1979 and 1986. i believe when new england firearms took over their early shotguns also used that model number. the only way to tell for sure when your shotgun was manufactured is to give us the serial number letter code prefix, there should be two letter codes. example the BA letter codes were used in 1985.

for your information; when the model 088 was introduced in 1979 it was an economy version of the regular model 058. when the model 058 was replaced by the model 099Deluxe in 1982 the model 088 was retained as economy version of that model and outsold the model 099D.
