Cool Without you vets, it DIES!

I know a lot of you Viet Vets cruise thru here, and not finding much activity, you move on to more active spots.

Well folks, if you would post something on here it would be a more active site. Don't depend on some one else to start a new topic, do it yourself!

It doesn't matter if it's just about how ugly the nieghbors dog is, how crappy a day you've had, or your feelings on the World condition today (keep it civil, Please).

You don't have to relive your experiences in-country, but we are here to help if you do wish to. If you don't want it on the public forum, PM any of the mods or admin with a question and we will do our best to aid you.

This forum is for venting and releaving your frustration. USE IT!!
I DO!

That's a noteworthy bit of encouragement Berto---how often do we need to tell the troops that a lot of times it helps just to throw it out there. There will be noone to critcize bad spelling or non existant puncuation---(mine is a grand example of both). In this time and age when civility is not as choice as it was 40 years ago, lots of transgressions can and will be overlooked. Don't really know what either of us can say Bert to get things started---we know good and well lots of troops come and view--occasionally a new handle will appear for the brief post and never to return--strange. Keep up the chatter Bert and maybe something you write will strike a chord with someone. Chief

I read many posts, and think hard about a few, but for the most part, us older folks are a dying breed. The people running this country are too self centered to allow this country to survive, short of a civil uprising. Major manufacturing is being outsourced, and yet the folks whose jobs are lost are supposed to squat and produce the cash to buy the still higher priced product. Lots of folks are gonna be real surprised when they wake up and find out they're mortgage is owned by some bank in China.

The idea of having pride in this country, seems to have become a politically incorrect stance. Instead of "how do we fix things?"......it's a "who can we blame for it?" atmosphere.

Roller coasters never really affected me one way or the other, but the ride this country is on now, really concerns me.

There are a lot of younger folks that read here too and that is a great way to get the message out about what it's actually about.

I work with the Voice Of Democracy writers and the road to the future isn't as bleak as it looks Jay. I realize there are quite a few that don't listen but there are the ones that do and we have to make sure we encourage that at all costs.

I try to recommend the site as often as I can to get people to drop in but it's hard to say if they will stay or not. It's not as it was when I first got here. Tac invited me over from GB and I've been here off and on since.

Maybe there are a lot of people trying to forget but as long as I'm breathing I won't be one of them.

see ya

HOT DAMN!!! Both of you youngsters showed your flair by taking the time to pen some words of wisdom for us--thanks a lot. I look at this site many times like a town meeting or a PTA get together---perhaps there is a crowd assembled but there needs to be a spokesman to get things started---usually when there are a few ideas kicked around, the folks will begin in inject and participate---sometimes the most unlikely person of the entire assembleage will become the 'mover and shaker'. Public speaking usually frightens the novice---I bet it is the same for the 'public writer'---plagued with the thought of saying/writing something wrong or offensive, they do neither. I suppose also there will be the grumblers who will discourage---"damned woman wouldn't shut up---didn't give anyone else a chance to talk", when in fact, Old Gus Grumbler wouldn't say **** if he had a mouthful of it!!! Just an opinion and you know what is said about that word? Chief

Hey Chief, just 6 bits added to it and you might find a cup of java somewhere!!

I think we all know you mean it's great to have participation!

Words of wisdom ????? hmmmmmmm, thank you sir. I hate to think I'm old enough to be wise.......

Failure to speak/write, should not be because of the fear of offending. Very few words have been written/spoken that didn't offend someone. It's much easier to "discuss" verbally, as opposed to a written discussion, and some folks are put off (or pissed off) by that and fail to participate, or raise hell right away. There are some topics that just defy common sense, and I rarely take part. Others, that I think I can reasonably contribute to, I'll step in.

I just have to bear in mind the difference between discussion and argument. I almost hate to hear myself gettin' mellow..........

Good to see ya, Jay. Thanks for joining in and you don't HAVE to be OLD to have wisdom. I'm a perfect example of an older person sans wisdom.
I just keep rolling with the flo, rather than being wise about some of my choices. Sometimes it turns into an interesting ride but not recommended for the inexperienced.

Cool

It's been two days since I posted last and noone has seen fit to reply. I know spring is here mand folks are getting started on springs like gardening, pruning, etc.

I know you all visit other boards beside this one, but please don't let THIS one become a memory! At least go to 'Fire for Effect' and bitch about how rotten your day has been or the jerk who cut you off in traffic. If someone has you on your "last" nerve, tell us about it!

That is the forum for stress relief and venting all of your frustrations. Believe me, I've been in Group therapy since 1988, and venting works!

People who have known me all these years are constantly mentioning how different I am now, but occasionaly I still have to check into the VA hospital for a "tuneup" when the stress overwhelms me.

Vocalizing you probs can be very benificial in relieving stress.

berto........... the well analyzed individual.

I suppose I would be better off spending more time here on the site posting than watching/fretting about the junk that comes over the airwaves in the form of news. This new type of computer operation instead of the old dial-up is really a boon---it never kickes me off like before---giggle the mouse and in a flash the screen lights up and you're on board. I did look at the newspapers for a bit this morning--boycotted them months ago but just flashed thru this morning and for true, SS/DD!!! Chief

Very good.

Everything is NOT all negative as the media would have us believe.
