Hi! I thought i'd introduce myself and say hi. While searching for info on the sks i ran across this forum.

I'm Dave, from the communist state of Washington ;-) , originally from Alaska. Spent some time as a commercial fisherman in Bristol Bay, AK, then 4 yrs in the US Army Mech Infantry as a combat medic, and am now a nurse.

I just bought my first rifle (a 1953 russian sks) and was looking up info as to the history, breakdown, and worth when i ran into this huge forum. The place looks great, hope you don't mind me making myself home here, and someone pass me a beer!

Warsteed was/is an army operation that takes place in Korea every few years, thought i'd use it as my nick since some well meaning church members like to google search my usual handle to see what i'm up to (they think i'm still civilized/pacified)

PS look for my thread and pictures in the ASK THE PRO's forum to help me fill in the history of my beauty (the sks, not my looks). I'm very excited to find out as much as possible about the rifle. =) I'll have it up once i get home and get some pictures of it.

I was in the mechanized infantry also......we drove Chevrolets.....
