Shooting injury!!?? - The Firearms Forum

I would suggest to smaller guys such as myself(5'9 small boned 185lb.) not to rapid fire a Desert Eagle .50AE. I spent 2 months in a cast with a torn main flexor tendon in my wrist.
Yeah, I know. "what was I thinking?" I'm a retard! But I know Now! hehehe.

Am I the only retard or has anyone else had any similar or different shooting related injuries??

I hope you are feeling better, be careful out there.
I had a few minor scrapes, nothing a bandaid couldn't cure, just from flying brass, and nothing more serious, Thank God!

yeah i'm better now. I still feel a bit of an electric shock feeling in my wrist and hand now and then when firing big calibers.

YIKES...

I have never heard of that type of injury from shooting a handgun, even rapid fire.

Were you using any recognized shooting stance (ie...weaver, Isosceles...)???

The gun, for some ppl(me) is a little to big in the grip area. When I hold the gun my tendons are fully extended, so there's no play for the recoil. At least that's how my doc explained who is also a shooter.

I had my head cut open by a flying piece of a brake rotor that I just put an 8mm round through. The round blew about 1/4 of the rotor into shrapnel which went out in all directions for about 30yds. Still got some of the little pieces imbedded in my head (the voices in my head were happy cause they get better TV reception now

) A piece of bullet jacket from a 7.62x39 cut my lower leg real good (thank goodness for tube socks, pulled the socks up over the injury till I could get home to fix it

) Had a shredded 45ACP jacket ricochet off a plate target and hit me smack in the chest (lotta blood and mess, but only superficial cuts) Had a 22LR ricochet pass through the left side of my shirt once, left two holes in the shirt but didn't even graze me

I've dug small bits of fragments out on several occassions, but nothing too injurious. Maybe I should shoot more paper targets

Yep, got a little extra free time right now so it's a good time to be working on stuff. Building some custom AK mag catches right now, makes it easier to eject a mag and a lot easier to eject a drum.

Got a chance to shoot a "real shotgun"
Think it was one of those old 10 gauges the commercial duck hunters used to use.

They warned me that it kicked pretty hard
so
I'd better lean back on that tree when I pull the trigger

So it wouldn't "Knock me over"......................

Didn't break anything but it sure could have

45 jacket, left ear lobe - OUCH!!

Various amounts of "splashback"

Now I use those Nubold platic targets for close in practice - check them out at Dillons. They take 100's of 230 fmj with no problems.

My dad got me with that 'lean against this tree' number.

It was a 12 gage but it turned my shoulder black and blue. I was around 10 at the time. The old bastard laffed his a$$ off. I did too after the bruises healed.
