Default Colt SAA

One of my best friends died recently and left me a Colt SAA in 44 Spl. It's serial number is SA218xx.

I am thinking of buying a mate to it and need to know when this one was manufactured.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gary

You have a third generation single action Colt manufactured between 1978 and 1993. The numbers began with SA01001 and ended with SA99999. I would estimate your pistol was manufactured in the early eighties.
