Mine was made out of desparation.
My wife was out of work and we needed some extra cash to make ends meet. I was planning to get into NRA Highpower shooting matches. I bought a new loaded Springfield M1A with rangefinding scope. Tried to sell it for 3 weeks - no luck. I traded it for a post ban colt ar15 and paraordinance LD14-45. Sold the Colt for $650 and the para for $450 within days of the trade. Made ends meet. Traded a Winchester Model 94 in 32 Winchester Special for an AMT backup in 380. While the Model 94 was no target gun the AMT made even the bad guys, whom it might get pointed at, laugh. It wrenched around in the hand with every pull of the trigger and threw brass where it could never be found, all over the place. Thank God they are not made anymore!

A Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag for my L Frame Smith in .357. The Ruger never did shoot nearly as good as the Smith. I loved that gun (crying). It shot soooo good.

My Mossberg 500 for peace in my apartment.
I was much younger and had a hoplophobic roommate. Especially afraid of shotguns. Even more so of pump-action shotguns. During a timeframe where my girlfriend (now wife) and I were hitting some speedbumps on the road to romance and my roommate's gf was playing the "stir the pot and get everybody arguing" game, my roommate had the local police department come pick up my shotgun while I wasn't home. Rather than go get it and scare my roommate half to death, I let it stay with the police and never retrieved it. Ah, well. If I still had it, I might not have bought my Remington 870 over the weekend....[grin] |
