I have a RockRiver with a 16 inch barrel and a 1 in 9 twist , Does anyone have a load for a 55 gr. Sierra spitzer using H 335 powder ?

Ifn' it were me, I'd check my Sierra manual. No offence Coyote, but a reloading manual is an important necessity for reloading. But, I load my Hornady 55 grainers at about 21.0 gr of H335 as a starting load...

H335 may prove to be a tad fast for the short barrel and the impingement system. I had a DPMS lo pro 16" and it would short stroke with normal powders. Had to load with slower powders to get reliable function.

If you run into this issue look at using H4895 or IMR4895, Varget would also be a good choice and is one of my favs in the .223 anyway.

Grab you a couple reloading manuals, they are priceless to the handloader.

I almost forgot.. Might also look at Hodgdons new CFE223 powder. Its expressly designed for the .223 AR platform and is just a tad slower than Varget. I have yet to try it, But eventually will as it looks like it would be a solid performer in the .308 as well.

I shoot the same AR. I am loading 55 grain Hornady bulk FMJBT with 24.8 grains of H335. At 100 yards I am shooting sub MOA three shot groups and MOA five shot groups. I'm going to order some better bullets and see how much I can tighten those groups up. I have tried a few different powders and H335 is my go to powder for the 55 grain bullet. I also use WC844 powder, it's the pull down equivelent to H335 and is a lot cheaper. I would recommend to start around 24 grains and work the load up to see which load your rifle likes.

Im using IMR4895 at 25.5 gr under a 53 gr projectile. It was developed in the DPMS and also used in my Mini14.
