Default Cleaning Brass

Hi just wanted to share my home made cleaner I just built.
The idea came to me last night when I was trying to fall asleep.

Photo 1 I used rubber heater hose to isolate the top board from the base.
Photo 2 I used an old sewing machine motor and wrapped a piece of mechanics
wire around the pulley for vibrating weight.
photo 3 completed unit.
There are two pans the bottom one is attached with double sided foam tape.
The brass you can see was dark brown when I started the pics were taken after about 45 minutes.
I just used hot water ,
oxyclean powder,
and a citus based liquid soap.

Genious or cheap, either way its a great idea. I'm thinking I may need to build one as well. Any idea of the RPM on the motor?

The rpm wasn,t marked on the motor, but the way it winds up it might be a 3450.
If I get to my cousins shop I have a mechanical tach I'll bring home and check it.
Just don,t let your other half catch you robbing the sewing machine motor.

One suggestion: you've got the right idea but I would suggest buying some stainless steel media to add to your solution-will really imrpove your results.

Product name by chance? Sounds like a good idea.

It appears to be a great idea and the stainless pins will definately aide in cleaning. I would just be real cautious using liquids around that unsealed motor. The results could be quite shocking .

Guys, looks great, do you have a counter weight on the motor to make it shake? Also I tried the vinegar water solution, it worked, just did not trust it. I bought the hornady ultrasonic solution, and wow! it works great, I have the harbor freight ultrasonic though, give it a try, I think you will like the results!

Look at pic #2(little fuzzy) you can see the wire tail sticking off the pully about 4 o clock position for counter weight.

howlnmad: good point about shock.
I just put about 2 inches of water. it just vibrates like an ultrasonic cleaner.
Just not as quiet.
