Looking for 173 gr .30 FMJ and Rem 93 grain .308 bullets - The Firearms Forum

Anybody know who has 173 grain .30 FMJ (M1) and/or Remington .308 MC 93 grain pistol bullets? I use the 173 grain bullets in M-72 .30-06 loads - they work much better than the 168 grain Match bullets in my rifle. My Lyman reloading book references a Remington 93 grain jacketed metal case bullet for the 30 Luger, but I have not found anyone who stocks it. I'd like to try it in my 7.65 French MAS load.

Remington doesn't make the 93 gr. FMJ bullet anymore,basically your stuck with one of the three bottom bullets on this page I shoot the first two in a 7.62 x 25 CZ52. http://www.grafs.com/metallic/557

The 173 gr. M118 match bullet is pretty rear animal to fine these days,However I believe the Military is use the M118B now days which is 175 gr.

the closest thing to 93 gr in a .308 bullet is gonna be the 90 gr. HORNADY XTP bullets for the .30 carbine pistol loads, Unless you happen accross a sack of pulled military surplus at a gun show or online somewhere. The 173 gr. projectiles for .30-06 military ball are also long obsolete but you should be able to get something similar in 174 gr. or a current military projectile weighing 175 gr. as res45 has posted. good luck with your hunt

JLA and Res45 - Thanks for the assist! My Lyman reloading book is badly out of date. Used to buy those 173 gr FMJ bullets in mass bulk packs. Shoulda bought more......Or shot a little less......

I believe I may have some. They are norma no.67613 .30 cal. (.307) 93 grain.
They have a small soft point and have a bright jacket, not sure what it is. I'm not really sure what they're for, everything that calls for a 93 grain bullet is supposed to be .308???? Anyone????

I just took another look and have two new unopened boxes of Hornady 93gr. 30 Luger bullets.

The 307 and 308 bullets are essentially interchangeable. There was some heartburn about the military NATO loads for the 308 being over powered for commercial 308 guns, so they called the loads for them 307s. hmmmmm

Thanks for looking those up. The 93 grain FMJs are great for reloading the .30 Luger and the 7.65 French MAS pistol. Been off line waiting for more 7.65 MAS brass. Still trying to get anything to approach the majic 1120 FPS. The 86 grain Sierras reach about 1070 FPS then begin showing pressure signs with Unigue powder.

The 7.65 French mikes out at .3085, and the original WW2 occupation loaded ammo is a steel jacket 86 grain FMJ. I am trying to find a powder that will produce just a little more FPS and a little less pressure. There is a European powder that claims to do this, but I've not seen it here. It is in my notes, and I can't recall it off hand.

I just got an email back from Norma, the 93 gr. .307 bullet I posted earlier was for .30 Carbine. They quit production of them some time ago. Probably work though, I do have the two boxes of copper jacketed 93 gr. .308s that are for the .30 Luger.

I recently joined and wanted the membership to know I have at least 1000 of the 173 gr .30 FMJ. I may have more but need to count the pulls.

Hornady also makes a .308" 86gr soft-point round nose.

I know a guy that is using them in the 7.62x25Tokarev for small-game loads. Easier on the meat than the 90gr XTP-HP and they feed well through the Tok. Might work in a Model 1935 too.
