I just took my big dog to the Vet. Not sure whats going on with him. He's congested/labored breathing, and just isn't himself. Has a big lump on his side too. Could have been kicked by a horse but that doesn't really explain the congestion. Dr. said his heart sounds labored as well. Pullin' blood and doin' CBCs in the morning hopefully I will hear something good. Rough evening My 3yr. old daughter left for the Dr. the same time I took dog to vet. I didn't know which way to go, wife had to tell me to take the dog and she would take our daughter. Now I am just sitting here waiting for her to call.
To drink....or not to drink!

Very, very cool........
As long as I can remember, I have always had a dog or three. I can't imagine not being owned by one. This explains why, I guess.

My Basenjis.

Here's Vega. We rescued him. He was literally dying and less than 1/2 the weight he is now.

Here's Katy. Two of her siblings are national champs.

The daughter is much better today temp is back to normal still awaiting results from one of the test they ran last night. She appears to feel much better but still has a horrible cough and her asthma is acting up too.
Dog not as good .... talked to the doc this morning and he wants to keep him through today and put an IV in him but he thinks he may be having some kidney problems. He read off all the blood chemistry work to me but to be honest I was a little in shock and didn't pay much attention. All I really caught was WBC count was real high and something that shouldn't be below 7 was at 5. He basically said he is anemic (SP) and his kidneys may be shutting down. I should know a little more later today. Here is a pic of him a couple years ago. Thats my daughter that is now, or will be soon, three.

My kid has been bugging me for a year to get a dog so a month ago I bought him a couple labs. I forgot how many different things lab puppies will eat.

Thanks ben, I'm afraid this will be one of those down hill fast things. I hope not but being that I work in Vet. Med. I have seen it all to much. I don't work directly in clinics but clinics are right next door.

MVP- Labs will eat anything I have seen xrays of labs that have ate GI joe, box of staples, fish hooks.....ect and the list goes on.

I'm so sorry. I'm not ashamed to say that I balled my eyes out when my dog died in '01. Those little **** heads sure have a way of growing on ya.
