Hello all, need some info. I have been out of the gun world since my divorce 6 years ago and I'm getting ready to purchase some new firearms, first and foremost; a 1911. I'm looking in the $700 range, had almost purchased a Kimber Pro Carry II Stainless but figured I'd get some real world reviews. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Wanting mid sized conceal carry piece...thanks

Welcome to TFF.
The Kimber Pro Carry will do you well as would a Colt Combat Commander or Springfield Armory mid sized 1911. Along with a good gunbelt and holster, you can't go wrong with either. |

You cannot go wrong with Kimber or Springfield. Out of the box they perform very well and are easy to modify.
I have a Kimber Compact Custom as my carry piece I purchased used. Once the worn recoil spring and magazine were replaced, I haven't had an issue.

Welcome to The Firearms Forum.
Can't argue with the choice you started with.

Thanks for the information, Looks like I will start with the Kimber and check into some minor modifications and tune ups. I have read a few reviews about Kimber ejection problems. Is this extractor, mag, ammo or a combination of the three? I know they are totally different monsters but I never had a jam or misfire out of my Glock 22&23 with close to 10k rds fired, Colt Officers series 80 jammed all the time so I sold it. I want to eliminate any (or as much as possible) chance of a jam in a situation where my or someone elses life may depend on it and just love the feel and look of the 1911s. Thanks again for the welcome...
