Default Contract dispute grounds firefighting planes

So if I read this right, Bozo's lackeys didn't like the maintenance plan of this outfit. So they killed the contract, and fires rage.

That’s down from 40 tankers used by the Forest Service just a decade ago, according to Rep. Dan Lungren (R.-Calif.), chairman of the House Committee on Administration, who is challenging the decision to dismiss the largest provider of heavy air-tanker support to the federal government.

Just another reason to get this idiot out of the White House. The problem is that the voting public is being made up of a higher percentage of idiots every year, so we will probably just vote another idiot into the White House and in another 4 years we'll have to get rid of him.

Had the fires occurred in a Democratic baliwick I'd bet the administraiton's response would have been far different !

FWIW, aerial firefighting has become far more politicized in the past few decades ! In my formative years this sort of flying was pretty much "wildcat" - aka individual enterprise - modifying vintage WW2 aircraft and moderns to "do the job" neccessary ! The only "government" involvement was the FAA, checking to see the aircraft received annual AW inspections, all mods were "typed" and pilots met applicable license standards. So WITH did this - which is only the latest in a long long list of recent events, (the CA/AZ fires of a few years' back come readily to mind) - fiasco come from ? It reeks of political opportunism, as the "vics" are primarily "red" voters. >MW
