Default My diamond-studded .45

Series '70 Gold Cup with fake ivory grips (from fake elephants, maybe) that are scrimshawed with a personal design and have a small diamond set in right grip. I don't know why I do these things. Just gotta be different, sometimes.

Sax, if them grips be fake ivory they is the best looken fake ivory I've seen in a long time.

Why not get some grip dude to carve you some design of your choice to replace that area you blanked out near the diamond...by the way...can't see the diamond hee hee.

I miss having my old Colt 70 pistol, it had the plain factory wood on it with Colt logo. Bought that gun in Missoula MT back in the early 70s.

Brownell's sells those fake ivory grips, they're very good looking on a blued pistola. Have several pairs on Ruger Single Actions.

Boy GG, sure do know how to make a guy drool early in the morning. Haven't even had coffee yet. I'll look it up and get back to you. Have a good day.

Rick

Well, Jim, I was wrong. It is not Brownell's, but Midway. It is called "Ivory Polymer" and are only made for Ruger Blackhawks, Bisley and Colt SSA. They are made by Hogue and are called Hogue Cowboy Grips. Sorry Jim.

OK GG, here ya go. Just found these and they are real ivory, not fake. Of course they are blanks, but they also recommend grip makers.

http://www.ivorybuyer.com/sales/gungrip.htm

And they do specify N frames. You'll also love the price, but they are legal.

Your turn to drool pardner!

HOKEY SMOKES!!! that is expensive. I saw a japanese revolver had this jade inlaid scrimshaw like ivory grips, it was definitely a showcase gun, the gun itself had been etched into with japanese caligriphy and replated after the etching, was absolutely beautiful.

Wow, maybe I could put a set of those grips on my snub nose nickel Python pimp gun. Get me a gold tooth and a caddy, oh yea, I'm down with opp.
Well, maybe not the Python, but I would not mind a set on my 70's series.
Best to all, John K

Naw, 4Eye......pimp guns have pearl handles.

General Georgie Patton used to wear a Colt Single Action Army revolver. When a reporter asked him about his "pearl handled six-shooter", Patton replied, "Pearl handles are for pimps....these are ivory handles!"

Howdy 91/59.

Thanks for the heads up on the Bar S grips.

Unfortunatelly they don't make any fake ivory for N-frame magna type grips at all.

Seems to be .45 SASG and Colt variants...old west stuff...which is fine but won't help me.

I called those people about 1 1/2 months ago, at that time they didn't make the S&W magna grips for N-frame.

I think they wanted $150 for the Colt six gun grips...which is a mite steep for yours truly.

Maybe I'd better use your number and call them again...maybe things have changed.

saw the gun on a tv show, one of those public tv station things, was one night at the wee hours when I could not sleep. I looked about, I think it was in a mueseum of some kind. The show demonstrated how lots of soldiers turned things they had lying about into works of art. Like some howitzer type shells from ww2, they had carvings of all sorts of things from movie stars to the battle field and nekkid girls, my old french teacher from middle school collected them, it was something I had not heard about other then that show.

Truivory strikes me a bit pricey. I recently replaced the grips on that Gold Cup with genuine ivory grips from Nutmeg Sports. I can recommend their grips highly. They ask $195 for 1911 ivories. Also sell a lot on ebay and I got two pair at $155 each. They usually set their reserve at about $125 and then they go for $150-$180 as a general rule.

FN;
I think what you are referring to is called "trench art." Some are REALLY nice. I have a few pieces; I always keep an eye out for more.
