Way cool! When I drive fast on the open freeway, it brings a big smile to my face. I can't imagine the grin I'd have in a fighter jet!!!

No matter what you do, nothing meets the experience of breaking the sound barrier, that is unless you break the speed of light

I don't think they were going fast enough to break the sound barrier... i SUSPECT that what was really taking place is that Ron was onboard and passing gass....
Thats the only thing that could make that loud of a bang?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() mike gn

I recall two occasions when the ground moved for me, by low flying jets. One was as a teenager at a air base in northern England. It was a V Bomber flying low and slow, it seemed to almost hang in the air. I was sitting astride my motorcycle with the helmet on the tank, frozen by the scene. The noise was incredible, it felt like the world was shaking.
The second time was late 70s on the height's by the Jordan Valley. Israeli jets running low down the valley turned and swept just above our heads. You could count the rivets. Images and sound like these really stay with you as if they happened yesterday, but ask me what I had for dinner Friday? ![]()

I remember when we lived in Phoenix, I was driving on I-10 heading south to Tucson when 2 fighters screamed over I-10 at what seemed like 50 feet. Awesome sight.

The jet sounds I most remember were the fast movers in Vietnam when they came in low to make a napalm or HE drop on a real or suspected NVA position. For some reason, the sound, however loud, never bothered me much.

The truth of this statement is very clear to those who have astral traveled or had an outer body experience. You can go anywhere with just a thought. So don’t think about this too much or you’ll do it again. Ooops, sorry you just did it again.

Come to think of it, mustard gas might be an apt description at that, Ron. It worked pretty well in World War I, you know. The stuff is a little hard on the delivery equipment though.

LOVE the sound of jet noise!!!! To this day, if I hear that distinctive sound of military jets, I will RUN to the window to see them!!!
Were those Tornadoes flying over the airfield? They went by so fast, I tried to pause the video to i.d. them, pic was kind of blurry.

I live in the corridor that the planes use on the way to Oshkosh's Air Show. One day I was at work, it was a hot day and all the windows in my office were open. I heard a droan of airplanes in the distance so I ran outside and there was a flight of about 100 old WWII War-Birds flying overhead in several formations heading for "Fighter Island" where they group for final landing instructions. It was the coolest thing I ever saw except for the shows at the air show. I was at the north end of the runway a coupla years ago at the air show when I noticed all the noise was gone in the air (practicing planes for aerobatics and such) when I heard a roar getting louder really fast! It was a pair of F-18's, they got to the end of the runway and turned straight up with white condensation trailing off the wings and cockpit areas! WHAT A SIGHT!!! I have nothing but respect and admiration for our pilots, be it fighter or bomber, they are the best this planet has ever witnessed!!! Not to disclude any other pilots because every catagory of pilot is MUCH appreciated!!! We have the BEST air force anywhere, ever! Kudos to ALL pilots and support crews in the USA!!!!!
