jsut bought a scope rail for my gp 100 what kind of scope would say would be good for it, thought about maybe a red dot.

A red dot would be fine for short-range snap shooting vermin or plinking, but if you plan to hunt bigger critters at ranges over 50 yards I would go with a 2.5x scope.

Optical scopes on hand guns are difficult to use unless you are shooting off the bench. You have to get your eye lined up just so and just the right distance from the scope. If you move off that location the scope blacks out or you don't see the full picture of the scope. A much better choice is a Red Dot. They flat work! You'll never believe how much you shake until using one of these.

The Red Dot just hangs out on top of the target. You can leave both eyes open (continue your 3-D vision), lay the red dot where you want to shoot and pull the trigger. The accuracy potential over open sights is much greater. You have to try one to believe how good they work.
